Biogénie, through its corporate unit “EnGlobe Corp.”, has put innovation on top of its priority list. To support this approach, a corporate department composed of approximately twenty persons is dedicated to this activity. Since Englobe has the facilities required for the development of technologies at the laboratory, pilot, and full-scale levels, technical issues can be quickly resolved and applied on site. Working through its operating divisions or its internal R&D projects portfolio, EnGlobe invests several million dollars each year in technological innovation. Using this internal capability, and through an international network of industrial, academic, and institutional partners, EnGlobe is able to develop effective and economic solutions for the management of contaminated sites and organic wastes that meet the needs of our customers.

Englobe has solved specific problems of remote contaminated sites or saline soils in places like Alberta, has integrated various forms of renewable energy and energy conservation measures in site remediation, has pushed the limits of contaminant biodegradation under anaerobic conditions, and has developed innovative In situ approaches. These are some examples demonstrating that EnGlobe is listening to the needs of clients facing environmental issues, and illustrates that Englobe’s commitment to aggressively and creatively find original solutions in the characterization and remediation of contaminated sites.

The following lists a few examples of investments Englobe has made in order to meet organic waste recycling targets for its customers:

• diversifying beneficial reuse of organic waste,
• developing composting solutions for Institution, Commerce and Industry (ICI) and small communities,
• optimizing the performance of composting on a larger scale,
• improving the solutions for the revegetation of degraded sites, and 
• developing solid biofuel or added value fertilizing residuals using urban biomass.
