TRANSPORTATION – RAIL
Biogenie provides services for the
remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater for public and
private rail transportation organizations.
Projects range from cleaning up wood treatment facilities, to
cleaning historical contamination in rail yards where locomotive
maintenance and refuelling operations often occurred over decades,
if not a century. Contaminants of concern were typically diesel
range organics, PAHs and PCP that were typically addressed with
bioremediation technologies.
In the rail industry, Biogenie is proud to have successfully
completed one of the largest bioremediation project ever carried out
in the United Kingdom: the biological treatment of 220,000 tons of
diesel and PAH-contaminated soil on the former Stratford rail
station site which will now become an international train station on
the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) between Paris and London.
